The 2005 Hill of Grace is 100% Shiraz sourced from vines ranging in age from 57 to 149 years with the original planting in 1860. It was aged in 100% new French and American oak for 21 months. It is opaque purple/black with a spectacular bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, truffle, lavender, anise, mulberry, and plum. Loaded on the palate and already complex, this sweetly-fruited wine is surprisingly elegant as well as powerful, the iron fist in the velvet glove. It has a finish lasting over 60 seconds and will offer a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2035. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993

Deep garnet with a hint of purple, the 2005 Hill of Grace offers a wonderful perfume of kirsch, red currant preserves and raspberry coulis with hints of cinnamon stick, cloves and orange peel. Medium to full-bodied, it is very elegant yet intense in the mouth with a lively acid line, medium-firm, very finely grained tannins, and a very long finish. Approachable now and should drink to 2040+. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993
About the Producer
Henschkes family name and reputation are now being upheld by the fifth generation, Stephen and his wife Prue. Stephen is the biochemist and winemaker and Prue is the viticulturist. Over the past 14 years, Prue`s viticultural management has breathed new life into the vineyards, which fully capitalise on some of the most remarkable old vine material in the world. Both Stephen and Prue continue to craft their white wines with a focus on purity, while their red wines have a strong focus on terroir, using traditional winemaking techniques. The highly sought-after Hill of Grace is the product of vines planted in the 1860s and is Australia's greatest single vineyard Shiraz. HIil of Grace and Mount Edelstone are arguably the two oldest single vineyard wines produced in Australia that tell the wine story of Australia. Henschke Rieslings are the finest in the Eden Valley and amongst the very best in Australia.
